MANILA, Philippines – National University (NU) came closer to a semifinals berth after sweeping College of St Benilde, 25-19, 25-21, 25-18, in the quarterfinals of the Shakey's V-League 12 Collegiate Conference.
The Lady Bulldogs improved its carryover record to 4-1 tied with the UST Tigresses and right behind undefeated Ateneo Lady Eagles on Sunday, August 23, at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Guest player Dindin Santiago Manabat topscored for NU with 13 points she earned off 8 attacks, two blocks, and 3 service aces.
Veteran Myla Pablo and towering middle blocker Jaja Santiago contributed 11 points in the win.
The Lady Blazers had Ranya Musa leading the way with 7 points, but she had little to no support as usual spitfire Jannine Navarro was limited to just 5 points, while Jeanette Panaga did not see action at all.
With the loss, Benilde got booted out of semifinal contention.
