Arellano puts away DLSU-D to keep semis bid alive

MANILA, Philippines – The Arellano Lady Chiefs kept its semifinal hopes alive after dominating the DLSU-Dasmariñas Lady Patriots, 25-20, 25-17, 25-15, in the Shakey's V-League 12 Collegiate Conference on Saturday, August 29 at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Menchie Tubiera led 10 Lady Chiefs on the scoreboard with 8 attacks, two blocks and 3 service aces for 13 points.
Danna Henson and Shirley Salamagos each had 8 points and Cristine Joy Rosario chipped in 7 as Arellano improved its carryover record to 3-3.
The NCAA champions need to win next week over College of St. Benilde in order to secure at least a playoff for the semifinals.
If they lose, defending champions Far Eastern University will advance along with undefeated Ateneo de Manila University, while National University and University of Santo Tomas will move on outright.
Cherry Rose Nunag and Mariebeth Lara paced the 1-5 Lady Patriots with 8 points apiece. – Rappler.com
