IN PHOTOS: NU basks in V-League title victory
MANILA, Philippines – Against volleyball's current dominant force Ateneo Lady Eagles, the NU Lady Bulldogs were not favored to win the Shakey's V-League 12 Collegiate Conference.
But National University still prevailed, winning the last two games of the finals series after dropping the opener to become champions on Sunday, October 4. They swept Ateneo de Manila University in both games, asserting their defensive might and utilizing well the maturity of veteran guest players middle hitter Dindin Manabat and seter Rubie De Leon. Ateneo, which had a commanding 10-game win streak over the conference, struggled in the last two games as conference MVP Alyssa Valdez was defended well by NU.
Open hitter Myla Pablo was named Finals MVP as she paced the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points in game 3.
