Foton, Philips Gold complete PSL final four
MANILA, Philippines- Super Liga’s final four lineup has been completed.
The Foton Tornadoes became the third team to enter the semifinals of the 2015 Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix women’s volleyball tournament after surviving 5 sets against the Meralco Power Spikers, 25-18, 18-25, 14-25, 25-16, 15-8, Tuesday, November 10, at the Arena in San Juan.
American import Lindsay Stalzer led the way for the Tornadoes after unloading a game-high of 24 points built off 20 kills, 3 blocks, and an ace. Sensational rookie Jaja Santiago and another foreign reinforcement Katie Messing also finished with double digits, scoring 14 and 13 apiece.
Foton started strong and dominated the first set only to lose focus and fall to Meralco in the second and third set. But the Tornadoes eventually gained momentum in the fourth set and managed to protect the lead with their attacks, coupled with a solid net defense.
Christina Alessi contributed 18 points for the Meralco Power Spikers while De La Salle University’s Mika Reyes and Mary Joy Baron both had 13 markers.
Meralco has not won in 8 games.

Foreign reinforcement Bojana Todorovic again saved the day for the Lady Slammers with 19 points with the help of fellow import Alexis Olgard and local Myla Pablo who scored 15 and 13 markers respectively.
Competition was tight in all 3 sets but Philips Gold managed to keep focus and sustained their momentum especially in the last set where Todorovic sealed the deal for the Lady Slammers with her lethal attacking.
