Maraño goes 'beast mode' as F2 Logistics wins PSL opener
MANILA, Philippines - Early favorites F2 Logistics Cargo Movers dispatched the Cignal HD Spikers in 4 sets, 25-12, 23-25, 25-20, 25-11, in the opening of the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference, June 18, at the FilOil Flying V Arena on Saturday, June 18.
The Cargo Movers, which is composed of La Salle players and alumnae, started strong and aggressively, burying the HD spikers, 16-7.
But Cignal bounced back in the second set and left F2 trailing, 18-10.
"First set maayos ang performance. Nagka miscommunication siguro sa loob nung 2nd set," said F2 Logistics head coach Ramil De Jesus.
(We performed well in the first set but there was miscommunication inside the court during the second set.)
Former DLSU Lady Spikers team captain Aby Maraño went into beast mode again and fired 17 points, while PSL top pick Ara Galang and Stephanie Mercado added 11 markers apiece.
On the other hand, UAAP Season 78 Finals MVP Kim Dy only contributed 3 points.
"Hindi lahat ng starter ay naging maganda ang performance," said De Jesus.
