RC Cola ends preliminaries on a high note, crushes Cignal in straight sets

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) - RC Cola Army’s efforts to end the preliminary round on a high note paid off as they routed the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-16, 25-9, 25-23 in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix on Thursday, November 24 at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
Jovelyn Gonzaga catapulted her team to victory, putting up 17 points and 15 excellent spikes.
Gonzaga and the rest of the RC Cola squad crushed Cignal in the first two sets, and managed to pull away with the victory after a tight game in the third.
The veteran Army team has already solidified their hold on the fourth seed, but nevertheless wanted to gain momentum coming into Saturday’s knockout stage, where they face no. 5 Generika.
Import Laura Schaudt dished out 7 points for the Cignal spikers, who are also gearing up for their do-or-die game against third seed F2 Logistics.
The Cignal HD spikers, who are still competing sans import Lynda Morales, finished the season in sixth place with a win-loss record of 1-9.
