F2 Logistics back in PSL finals after trouncing Foton
MANILA, Philippines – F2 Logistics marched on to its fourth straight finals appearance in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference with a semifinal win over Foton at the Muntinlupa Sports Center on Tuesday, August 22.
The Cargo Movers did not waste their twice-to-beat bonus as Kalei Mau, Majoy Baron and Kianna Dy powered the squad to a 25-19, 25-23, 17-25, 25-19 win over a Tornadoes side led by towering sisters Jaja Santiago and Dindin Santiago-Manabat.
Mau reached her first PSL finals by leading F2 Logistics with 16 points on top of 12 digs and 8 excellent receptions, while skipper Aby Maraño had 9 kills and 3 blocks for 12 points.
Ara Galang and Baron were also instrumental with 9 and 7 points, respectively, as Kim Fajardo dished out 24 excellent sets and Dawn Macandili had 30 digs in the triumph.
"Well, Foton was a big challenge. But entering the finals will be our biggest test. This is an unfinished business for us," said F2 Logistics coach Ramil de Jesus, who last won the All-Filipino title in their debut in 2016.
Since joining 3 years ago, F2 Logistics has been in the All-Filipino finals and reached the PSL championship round for 7 consecutive times out of its 8 overall appearances.
The best-of-three finals series is set on Saturday, August 24, at the Araneta Coliseum with F2 Logistics battling the winner of the other semifinals pairing between reigning champion Petron or Cignal.
Jaja and Dindin finished with 20 and 15 points, respectively, while Marian Buitre and Eya Laure had 10 and 9 points for Foton, which gave up 37 errors to be relegated in the bronze match on Saturday. – Rappler.com
