SEA Games: Watanabe bags gold for PH in women’s judo

MANILA, Philippines - Filipina-Japanese judoka Kiyomi Watanabe used ippon to take down Thailand’s Orapin Senatham and win gold for the Philippines in Women’s 57-63 kg judo on Sunday, June 7, at the EXPO hall in Singapore.
Watanabe won with a time of 3:36, using yuko and shido as well as well throughout the contest.
The Philippines now has 6 golds total in the 28th Southeast Games to go with 8 silvers and 14 bronzes. Overall, the country is still ranked 7th overall.
