JAKARTA, Indonesia – The Philippines clashes with mighty China in the women’s volleyball quarterfinal of the 2018 Asian Games on Wednesday, August 29, at the GBK Indoor Tennis Hall.
The extremely tough test for the Filipinas is set at 7 pm (8 pm in Manila).
Bannered by Alyssa Valdez and Jaja Santiago, the Philippine side will have to play its heart out against the Chinese, winners of the gold medal in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
Head coach Shaq Delos Santos admitted that facing the Chinese is worse than scaling the Great Wall.
Aside from having the world’s best and highest-paid volleyball player in 6-foot-6 attacker Zhu Ting and legendary coach Lang Ping, China is also overflowing with experience with three Olympic stints, 13 Asian golds and four World Cup titles.
The four-time Asian Games champions, however, had their armor dented by South Korea when the Games were held in Incheon four years ago. – Rappler.com
