MANILA, Philippines — Alyssa Valdez of the Ateneo Lady Eagles reigns supreme once more as she was officially awarded the Most Valuable Player plum for the second consecutive season in the UAAP Season 77 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday, March 14 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Ateneo skipper bagged the Best Scorer and Best Server awards for the second straight year as well as she totaled 312 points off of 262 spikes, 32 service aces and 18 blocks.

Valdez bested Kim Fajardo of the De La Salle Lady Spikers for the Best Server award.
The ace player averaged 22.28 points per game and led the Lady Eagles to a sweep of the eliminations for an outright Finals berth and a thrice-to-beat edge, putting them in an ideal position to successfully defend their title.
NU Lady Bulldogs’ Jaja Santiago was hailed Best Spiker for her 39.13% success rate in attacks. Valdez had a 38.53% success rate.

The UST Golden Tigresses had two of its volleybelles feted as middle hitter Marivic Meneses was named Best Blocker with a total of 47 kill blocks, while super rookie EJ Laure was awarded Rookie of the Year.
Laure shared the Rookie of the Year honors with UE Lady Red Warriors’ libero Kathleen Arado.

FEU Lady Tamaraw Tin Agno is this season’s Best Digger, while graduating libero Denden Lazaro of Ateneo took home her second Best Receiver hardware after winning the same last season.
Lazaro tallied a 27.25% reception efficiency rating per game.
Sophomore Jia Morado of Ateneo was fittingly named Best Setter for her 9.02 excellent sets per frame. Last year’s winner Fajardo finished second with 8.16 excellent sets. — Rappler.com
