Dota 2 Majors tournament to be held in PH
MANILA, Philippines – Dota 2’s The International will be heading to the Philippines, as one of its major tournaments is set to be held in the country.
The Dota team said in a blog post on Monday, January 11: “Upon the crowning of The Shanghai Major Champions, the eyes of the Dota community will turn to the next Major, to be held in Manila, Philippines in early June."
While no details were available yet, the Dota team did mention that both established groups and upstart teams will be able to fight "for the chance to join the rolls of The Manila Major to compete on the main stage in front of a sea of passionate fans."
The Manila Major tournament for Dota 2 will be the last chance to join in the main tournament for Dota 2, The International 2016, which will be held in mid-August.
Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game where groups of 5 players team up in an attempt to destroy the opposing team's stronghold on the opposite side of the map.
Dota 2's 2015 International tournament had a total prize pool of over $18 million. – Rappler.com
