Apple releases fix for update that broke Mac ethernet ports

MANILA, Philippines – Apple released a new update on Sunday, February 28, that sought to address Mac ethernet ports being broken by one of its previous security updates, which was released on Friday.

Apple Insider wrote that the Friday update had a "flawed 'Incompatible Kernel Extension Configuration Data' version" and made Ethernet ports on iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini computers inoperable.

This meant that a subset of users could not reliably get on the Internet via a wired or wireless connection.

The fix for the issue can be automatically downloaded and installed via WiFi. Users who are unable to connect to Wifi on their computers, however, may want to consult this support document and this page on OS X Recovery Mode through a separate Internet-capable device to go through the process of updating the computer to fix the ethernet port. – Rappler.com
