MANILA, Philippines – For those loyal to Windows 7 or 8.1, pesky updates popping up to interrupt the flow of your work are a common occurrence, especially with Microsoft’s aggressive push to get users to upgrade their systems to Windows 10.
There might be one bright side to updating to Windows 10 in the future, however.
According to The Next Web, the anniversary update of Windows 10 will introduce “Active Hours,” a system that allows you to set which hours you’ll be busy using your computer.
By setting specific active hours on your Windows 10 machine, the computer will not install updates or request a restart during those times.
A Windows Central report added users can only set a maximum period of 10 hours for this function.
While this update is a nice fix to a long-standing issue, Windows 10 does currently allow users to actively specify what times are best suited for restarting the computer after an update.
That feature is available in the Advanced Options menu of the computer’s Windows Update settings.
If you can’t wait for the anniversary update or want to try out the latest version of Windows 10, Build 14316 of the Windows Insider Program will enable Active Hours for you to test on your system (along with a bunch of other new features). – Rappler.com
