Huawei Matebook X Pro to launch in PH
SHENZHEN, China – President for marketing and sales service of the Huawei Consumer Business Group, Jim Xu, said that the company’s Matebook laptops are coming to the Philippine market, releasing as early as next month.
Details including pricing and availability dates regarding its local release have yet to be confirmed by Huawei Philippines.
Xu said he and his team were initially pushing to have the products, including the flagship Matebook X Pro, which has been praised by critics, released by Q2 of this year. The Verge, for instance, has gone so far as to call it "the best laptop right now." Having missed their initial target, Huawei says they are working hard to get the products to hit Philippine shores soon, which also include the Matebook D and E.
Xu also let slip that Huawei may be working on a gaming-related phone for the mobile gaming community, which has generally been seen as a new frontier for smartphone growth. In early June, Asus launched their ROG gaming phone, following the Razr and the Xiaomi Shark gaming phones. Xu also makes mention of a "Mate 20" phone, which could possibly be the name of their next flagship, and a follow-up to last year's Mate 10. The Mate phones are typically released in the final quarter of the year.
The Mate 20 nomenclature would make sense, given that their P-series also jumped from P10 to P20 this year.
Xu, in a media session, made it clear that they're trying to solidify their names in markets such as the Philippines, and in line with that, Philippine consumers can expect to see a wider variety of their products and accessories, beyond just smartphones, down the line. Huawei is also a known technology partner and equipment provider for telcos Smart and Globe. – Rappler.com
