The past week went by with a slew of hearings in both the House of Representatives and Senate zeroing in on two crucial issues – the system glitches of the Bank of the Philippine Islands and BDO Unibank, the alleged misuse of tobacco funds by Ilocos Norte governor Imee Marcos, and the continuation of the probe into the Resorts World attack.

Somewhere in between, former president Benigno Aquino III expresses hope that the Duterte administration will continue his reforms. The search is on for the next Supreme Court associate justice who will replace the retiring Bienvenido Reyes. In war-torn Marawi, the Mindanao State University is determined to resume classes in August.
