Following the Supreme Court's (SC) final decision to remove former chief justice Maria Lourdes Sereno through a quo warranto petition, Acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio said he would decline any nomination for chief justice on account of his dissenting vote.
Meanwhile, during the historic SC oral arguments on Tuesday, June 19, justices pointed out the procedural flaws in the petition seeking to legalize same-sex marriage in the Philippines.
Also on Tuesday, the United States withdrew from the United Nations Human Rights Council, condemning the "hypocrisy" of its members and its alleged "unrelenting bias" against Israel.

"I have to be consistent with my position that the quo warranto is not the proper way to remove a sitting member of the Court. So I don't want to benefit from the decision to which I disagreed," Acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio said.
