WebHits: Japanese rock band covers Rivermaya song
MANILA, Philippines – Inspired to help further after visiting areas hit by Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), the Japanese rock band UchuSentai:Noiz covers "Liwanag sa Dilim" (Light in Darkness), a 2004 hit song by the Philippines' own Rivermaya.
Angel-taka, the band's vocalist, went to areas devastated by Yolanda to personally give his donations, and even sang for the victims with hopes of conveying that "there's always light in the dark."
Typhoon Yolanda hit central Philippines on November 8, 2013, leaving thousands of casualties, entire towns flattened, and many more struggling to recover.
This is not the first time UchuSentai:Noiz covered an original Filipino song. In 2012, they put their own spin on Kamikazee's "Narda."
At the end of the video, the band, which will visit Manila in May 2014 for the annual "Best of Anime" summer convention, hinted on covering another Filipino original song. – Rappler.com
