'Epic' fail: Washington Post mistakes Indonesian defense minister for Jokowi
NOT JOKOWI. The Washington Post mistakenly captions this photo as President Joko Widodo. Photo from Twitter
JAKARTA, Indonesia — Uh oh. It looks like the Washington Post did not realize they misidentified the president of the world's 4th largest democracy and the most populous Muslim nation – until a netizen pointed out their mistake.
On Tuesday, October 27, the prestigious newspaper mistakenly identified Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu as Indonesian President Joko Widodo in a photo caption.
It did not take long before a netizen pointed out their mistake.
Hey @washingtonpost the guy is not the president. Big mistake... Huge... Epic mistake pic.twitter.com/FlFOlN3tWT

It took about 20 minutes for the Washington Post's Twitter account to reply – admitting their mistake and promising to correct it.
@danrem Thanks for pointing that out. We are submitting a print correction for tomorrow.

Widodo was in the United States – the first Indonesian president to visit in a decade – where he met President Barack Obama. His visit aimed to attract foreign investors to Indonesia, although he decided to cut his trip short to return to his home country to attend to the worsening haze crisis. —Rappler.com
